Reusable Grocery Bags

Thankfully, reusable grocery bags are becoming more and more common. Remembering to take them into stores can be a challenge. But, not remembering to launder them periodically can be a bigger problem.  Meat drippings and other contaminants can accumulate in the bag and present a health issue. The obvious solution is to launder them after use in hot water and a bit of bleach. Another solution is to designate a particular bag or bags for meat only and see that they are laundered routinely.  The practice of wrapping meats in plastic grocery bags before placing in reusable bags tends to defeat the purpose. Another tip: avoid the urge to convert grocery bags into sports bags, beach bags, baby bags, etc.

Just made a really cute shabby chic bag from an old embroidered table cloth. It’s washable and recycled.
