Reading Food Labels

Reading labels can be a real eye opener.  The can states “in light syrup”.

The ingredients read: pears, water, high fructose corn syrup, corn syrup (and yet again), corn syrup.  Wonder what fruit in heavy syrup contains?

Note:  canned pears contain at least twice the amount of sugar and sodium as a fresh pear. http://www.usapears.com/en/Facts%20And%20Nutrition/Healthy%20Choice/Pear%20Nutrition%20Facts.aspx

Great job on eating fresh fruit..good for you and good for the environment. You should try some smoothies with all that fruit!
