Air Conditioning Maintenance

With summer temperatures on the rise, now is an excellent time to turn your attention to the air conditioner.  Keep the summer stress-free with a little preventative maintenance.

Start by checking the outdoor unit to see that it is clear of any obstructions within at least 2 feet on all sides.  If the condensation pipe drains to the outside, check to see that it is free flowing. Indoors, be sure that the air intake vent is dust free and not blocked by household items. Within the air conditioning unit is a filter (either disposable or permanent) which requires checking on a monthly basis.  For a quick reference, indicate the date the filter was cleaned or changed on the filter itself;  and note the filter’s size directly on the unit, where it can be easily read

You may want to consider a professional annual checkup by a licensed air conditioning contractor.
